New External Abutment for Screw

BioHorizons has launched a new line of straight External Abutment for Screw (AFS).

• AFS353   3.5 mm External Abutment for Screw, 3.5 mm collar
• AFS354   3.5 mm External Abutment for Screw, 4.5 mm collar
• AFS403   4.0 mm External Abutment for Screw, 3.5 mm collar
• AFS404   4.0 mm External Abutment for Screw, 4.5 mm collar
• AFS503   5.0 mm External Abutment for Screw, 3.5 mm collar
• AFS504   5.0 mm External Abutment for Screw, 4.5 mm collar

This line of AFS has been modified to make them fully compatible with the Internal AFS prosthetic components. This allows us to ultimately offer a single, universal line of AFS prosthetic components simplifying our product line.

The image below illustrates the differences between the old and new designs:

• Shorter hex - the old External design has a 1.25 mm tall hex and the new design has
  a 1.0 mm tall hex.
• Compatibility across diameters - the new External 5.0 mm AFS incorporates the same size prosthetic platform as the 3.5 and 4.0mm eliminating the need for 5mm-specific prosthetics.

Here are some key points to remember:

• The old External AFS prosthetics will fully seat on the new AFS.
• The new 5.0mm AFS is not backwards compatible with the old External prosthetics.
• The PXIFO (Fixed Overdenture Abutment) is compatible with the new External AFS.
